Match Rules
◦Players must use a browser not a script to compete
◦No player may move to another team until the completion of the current season
◦No player can play for a team in finals matches unless they have played a match for that team or been announced as a sub in any of the heats matches
◦If a team quits the tournament all points gained in matches against that team will be lost
◦In event of a tie on the points ladder an overall tally of points will determine who gets the position, if still a tie it will be determined by the result of the match already played between said team
◦All efforts will be made to start the match on time, any cases like no shows or missing members the bot will be started no later than 10 mins after agreed time
Format:
◦The team who has the highest score after 150 questions is the winner
◦In event of a tie both teams get two match points
◦Two points for first answer, one point for each subsequent qualifying answer, no rest between questions 30 seconds per question, 2 auto hints at 10 and 20 seconds No hints, vowels or last will be available
◦Game paused at 75 questions for 5 mins Substitutions Subs are to be made on the fly, the game will not be paused.
◦The sub will be unspecced but is not allowed to cheer as players cannot use the ignore
◦Subs during the match are to be made only if a player moofs all other subs to occur at half time
◦If a team starts with less than four players subs may join as soon as they arrive
◦When making a switch the participating player must be specced first before unspeccing the sub or allowing them to join
Cheering:
◦Only coaches will have voice and they can cheer. If you intend to cheer you must warn the other team and give the players a chance to put you on ignore.
◦No cheering from subs, if the other players have to put you on ignore and you enter the game it creates distractions for the players
Profanity:
◦This is not allowed at anytime in the Arena, there is a custom script that will monitor and punish offenders during a match
◦Any bad language or poor conduct will be will be delt with under the C.O.C. rulings and may result in warnings, bans and match suspensions
Postponments:
◦If a team wishes to postpone a game that has already been added to the match calendar, they should no later than 72 hours before the scheduled start of the game, e-mail the opposition coach with their request. A copy (cc) should also be sent to the committee@triviaarena.com. and a notice placed on the original booking thread that a postponement is requested.
◦The opposition coach should reply to the request within 48 hours of the match, again copying the response to the committee and posting on the original booking thread.
◦If no response is received, the request will deemed to have been agreed by the opposition and the game will be postponed, the coach making the request to post on the original thread that no reply has been received.
◦If the opposition coach does not agree to the postponement, the coach requesting the postponement has the right to appeal to the committee.
◦The request for appeal should be made as soon as possible and certainly no later than 24 hours after receiving the response from the opposition coach.
◦The appeal should state the reasons why the postponement is being sought.
◦The committee will decide whether the postponement is justified.
◦If a postponement is agreed or ruled appropriate by the committee, the game should be rescheduled as soon as possible.
◦If there is dispute over timing of the rescheduled match, the views of the opposition coach will have precedence if a time has to be set by the Arena.
◦No further request for postponement of the game will be allowed. No last minute postponements will be allowed.
◦If a team turns up for a game without a full complement of players, and does not wish to participate in the game, the opposition will be awarded a walkover (3 for win and 0 for forfeit), and no individual scores will be counted.
◦If the opposition also do not wish to play, then both teams will be deemed to have forfeited the game and will each receive one point for a defeat.
◦No team will be allowed to voluntarily reduce the number of players in their team to match a team without a full complement, unless this is agreed when booking the match.
◦For a game to proceed each team must have a minimum of two players.
◦If only one player turns up for a team, then that team is deemed to have forfeited the game and the opposition will receive a walkover.
◦We advise coaches to be careful when posting a booking - whilst we recognise that players have a social life outside Trivia, we will not allow postponements because players have social events that by definition are planned and well known in advance - e.g birthdays.
◦We also advise coaches to be very sure of their teams availability if booking a match within the 72 hour window.
◦In the event of major occurrences e.g. the major power outage on east coast USA/Canada august 04, or major msn problems, the committee will meet to decide if a replay should be arranged. At least these events while rare are well documented and easily verified.
These rules are under constant revision and the management reserves the right to amend them under certain circumstances and without notice. If you wish to have your say about any of the rules or methods please post on the forum boards.
