This forum is set up to help those interested in setting up a similar website / community to the Arena. It is also for discussions about MSN clones, how to set up and how to improve its functionality and security.

I am by no means an expert in this field but as you know I have successfully set up a basic community here with its own chat server attatched so I can give you the benefit of my experience.

This is not a forum for the debating of the ethics of using the MSN ocx, nor is it for slagging MSN clone servers. Unless you are providing useful information about server code or have genuine questions about the setup or configuration, you might be better off posting somewhere else.

The information here is not meant for those wishing to set up an open chat server but targeted at smaller groups that want the independence offered from running their own site, or perhaps you have a thriving IRC room and wish to provide additional services and features for your members. We have all seen the demise of MSN chat, perhaps groups will be the next to go, where will you place your community if this happens, I myself was very lucky to have been one step ahead, or was it planning? You too can take control of your commuity and insulate it from changes in someone elses policy.

Again, I myself am not an expert on either xoops or chatserver code, hopefully this forum may attract others with a similar interest that may wish to provide useful information that we may all benefit from.

Please be patient when asking questions as we may not know the answer or may not be reading the forums daily, there is a notification system on this forum, so simply select notification by email to responses to your thread and any replies will be sent to your email.

thank you
